About Me

I am a hardcore software engineer with in-depth and long experience in creating cutting edge products and software for some of the biggest brands on the planet like Cisco, Vodafone, TWC, Cox, Canon amongst others.

My work has been deployed to millions of devices and households worldwide.

I have been privileged enough to work in the era when I couldn’t “google” or “use a prompt” to get code samples or even code for me. It was looking at the data sheet and thinking and creating code for products.

This page provides a few samples of my work.

I live in the beautiful Netherlands with my little family that has a very very naughty 9 year old.

Same of my work and the stories behind them

IoT based Smart Building for VodafoneZiggo in Netherlands

I was both the Architect and the Project Manager of a small team to work on the “Smart Building” for the headoffice and main campus of VodafoneZiggo in the Netherlands.

This project was already delayed was it started with a different contracting company and as the deadline neared, it was shifted to me.

The deadline was set in early March with both the Mayor of Utrecht and the Heads of Vodafone and Ziggo to inaugurate the building.

The “smartness” included lighting, heating, desk control, facilities booking, navigation amongst other features. You can imagine that “a low rate of bugs” are not acceptable in such scenarios it has to be NO BUGS else while the mayor is inaugurating the lights could go off or the place could be really hot or cold … But it was done with 0 bugs on the inauguration date it worked perfectly.

Most Complete…

Multiple cable video products for Cisco

I worked in various capacities at Cisco Systems, India for a period of 9 years.

I started as a Senior Developer and starting initially with simple bug fixes on large scale products slowly moved up I was happy to work on the EAS specification for US during this time.

After which, I was tasked with redesigning and porting the graphics stack on a new hardware. I did this in very short time and the stack was deployed to millions of households in the US

I moved up to help Acquistion of products and and Own Products.

One of the novel work I did was to creating a SDN layer over one of the state of art network chips at that time for Cisco.

I guess I did it all at Cisco…

Most Innovative…

Stack for SED a novel display technology.

Could have been the most famous story in my life a new type of Disply called the SED by Canon for Christmas 2010.

That was the plan and for that the work started in 2005.

It was my first trip to Japan, a beautiful land with wonderful people with the most perfect work ethics.

There I was being asked to design a stack for a '“new” television panel by one of the GMs of Canon. Could I do it ? How could I ? I was only new engineer in the field with little experience in designing entire stacks for consumer devices especially for a novel product.

But I did it, I suggested the Java based MHP and there we were doing multiple teams of HAVI, DAVIC and other components. Churning out code and demos of the stack with the panel following up right behind it.

Did it happen? Well the stack was ready but the product fell through due to the advent of LED and other legal hurdles.

Most Loved …

But my most loved bit of work is- “Yantra” the RTSP/RTP streaming engine designed by one of the smartest and best programmers that I have ever known “Jnaneshwar Tutskar” . A product so ahead of its time that there was almost no reference to compare it to… except for Apple’s Helix, even VLC did not support true RTSP at that time.

My learnings in programing have been entirely through this project… love my colleagues who are more than colleagues on this piece of work.
